With Tailored Enablement Kits and Consultation Services
HONG KONG, Nov. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) has launched TechMart, a platform designed to provide businesses with affordable and easy access to patented technologies. For an upfront licensing fee of HK$10,000 per patented technology, companies receive a one-year non-exclusive license to trial, test and evaluate advanced innovations for use, along with a comprehensive Enablement Kit and consultation service that simplifies adoption and accelerates integration. TechMart enables businesses to reduce technology adoption costs, shorten development timelines, and strengthen their competitive advantage.
This new platform aligns with the Hong Kong SAR Government's inaugural Five-Year Plan, which positions the city as a global innovation and technology (I&T) centre and a premier regional intellectual property (IP) trading centre, helping enterprises achieve faster business transformation in a rapidly evolving market.
Enablement Kits Drive Technology Adoption
TechMart currently features over 50 patented technologies from ASTRI's extensive R&D portfolio, spanning information and communications technology and advanced materials, and will be expanded in phases to offer approximately 100 patents. Through cost-effective licensing arrangements, technology support services, and classification by technology domain and industry application, the platform helps businesses efficiently identify, evaluate and adopt innovations that meet their business needs.
TechMart's Enablement Kits provide businesses with a complete implementation framework. Each kit is tailored to its associated technology, with detailed application instructions, operation handbooks, integration tools, use cases, and initial technical consultation service provided by ASTRI's R&D team, helping companies deploy solutions quickly and scale operations effectively. ASTRI will not charge any royalty fee during the first-year trial period and will discuss with companies to formalise licensing agreements in due course, paving the way for future commercialisation including mass production, sales and distribution.
Enterprise-Focused Patent Platform
Ir Dr Ted Suen, Chief Executive Officer of ASTRI, said the institute has long been committed to transforming R&D outcomes into commercial solutions and fostering collaboration across government, industry, academia, and research sectors.
"Many enterprises face challenges in technology adoption due to limited R&D resources, lengthy development timelines and high initial investments. TechMart bridges this gap by offering businesses mature, commercially ready patents alongside complimentary toolkits and technical support to fast-track digital transformation, product innovation, and business upgrades, while driving technology transfer," he said. He stressed that TechMart is not only a marketplace for patents but a comprehensive platform enabling industrial innovation and supporting Hong Kong's ambition to lead in I&T.
"Compared to traditional IP trading platforms, TechMart focuses on enterprise applications. It presents the features of patented technologies, application scenarios, and the practical business challenges they address in a clear and accessible manner, helping enterprises identify and adopt suitable technologies more efficiently," he added.
Broad Portfolio of Technology Solutions on Offer
TechMart features a wide spectrum of applications including construction technologies, environmental innovation, financial technologies, healthcare, food technologies, automotive solutions, semiconductors, and smart manufacturing. Key patents include:
