in university research translation and life and health technology industrialisation

HONG KONG, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- G–NiiB GenieBiome, a biotechnology spinout from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, has been named one of Hong Kong's inaugural New Industrialisation Elite Enterprises.

Conferred by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the recognition affirms the company's research capabilities, growth potential, local contribution and impact on Hong Kong's innovation ecosystem.

The inaugural New Industrialisation Elite Enterprises Nurturing Programme attracted more than 100 nominations. Following a rigorous assessment, G–NiiB GenieBiome was selected as one of only eight enterprises in the inaugural cohort. It focuses on supporting high-growth enterprises developing in Hong Kong and contributing to the local economy and employment. The HKSAR Government also intends the recognition label to help selected enterprises build market credibility and enhance market recognition.

Speaking at the award presentation ceremony, Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, noted that the inaugural cohort includes start-ups emerging from research conducted by Hong Kong universities. He added that the selected enterprises demonstrate the vibrant ecosystem and diversity of Hong Kong's new industrial development.
