Post: Hospital Foreman
Department / Hospital / Cluster: Business Support Services Department / St John Hospital or General Outpatient Clinics or Wong Chuk Hang Hospital / Hong Kong East Cluster
Pay: HK$23,725 to HK$30,244 (HGPS Point 7 to 11) per month including Monthly Allowance
Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. To assist the Senior Hospital Foreman in the supervision and delivery of business support services in the following areas:
(a) Housekeeping and domestic services, pest control;
(b) Patient portering and material transportation;
(c) Linen and uniform exchange;
(d) Security, carpark management and road control;
(e) Mortuary operation, including dead body transfer and claims;
(f) Capital works and facility management;
(g) Landscape and gardening;
(h) Waste and green management;
(i) Contractor management;
(j) Occupational safety & health.
2. To supervise and train the security guards and supporting staff.
3. To liaise with other department/unit heads and service contractors in the day-to-day provision of services and to closely monitor the services quality through inspection and improvement actions.
4. To handle emergencies, security incidents and other ad hoc incidents independently including prepare preventative measures, provide necessary logistics supports, reports and documentation.
5. To handle staff issues including:
(a) Duty rosters, planning and maintaining staff records;
(b) Staff discipline and performance monitoring;
(c) Staff orientation and training.
6. To keep stock and control of materials, store items and other equipment items.
7. To provide 24-hours emergency support to the Hospital and stand-by for any emergency duties when required;
8. To perform on-call duties and work outside normal working hours;
9. To perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s).
Entry Requirements
1. (a) 3 years’ satisfactory service in the HA, or
(b) 2 years’ supervisory experience in hospitals, hotels, cleansing service, facilities management or other related services/ industries.
2. Have shown the potential to lead and supervise staff.
Preferred Attributes
1. Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent with:
(i) 5 subjects, including English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language, at Grade E or above in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent.
OR
(ii) 5 subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education attaining the level specified below:
- Level 2 or above in English Language and Chinese Language; and
- Level 2 or above in New Senior Secondary subjects/ "Attained" or above in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects under this category) / Grade E or above in Other Language subjects;
or equivalent.
2. Completed F.5 / S.5 or above or equivalent AND have received training on hospitality, property management or relevant subject.
3. Obtained a valid Security Personnel Permit.
4. Ability to read and write Chinese and English, and speak fluent Cantonese.
5. Good knowledge of computer applications, e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese Word Processing, etc.
6. Good communication, interpersonal, organizational and supervisory skills.
7. Mature, self-motivated, independent and responsible.
8. Willing to perform on-call duties and work in other hospital / clinic sites within Hong Kong East Cluster.
9. Ability in handling ad hoc and emergency duties.
10. Good team spirit, able to work under pressure and accomplish tasks within tight schedule and dedicated to quality services.
